Delivered with Revit Revit Idea Delivered with Revit Planned Some features may be available for testing in Revit Preview. Revit has a lot of long-requested and powerful features for Architects. We are planning on making some notable investments in Architecture going forward. These investments fall into two major areas: architectural modeling and documentation.

Architectural modeling improvements include the release of elliptical walls in and slanted walls in Modeling improvements remain critical as we continue to improve walls, with tapered walls and improved wall layers on the roadmap. We are also focusing on making documentation of your designs more efficient. We are adding some long-requested tagging improvements to our roadmap.

Watch for future roadmap updates for more coming in this area. Immersive Design and visualization improvements will continue to be important as well. With the release of new and improved realistic views and fly mode in The next area of investment is making it easier to adjust the sun and artificial lights in your model, so you can better understand the impact of light on your design. With that in mind, we want to make it possible to create easier conceptual visualizations by giving you control of the materials you show in your view by overriding materials with view filters.

We are keen for any and all feedback about this new features a it will help inform our plans going forward. Additionally, improvements to single-phase panels and switchboards provide a better load tabulation results in panel schedules, and these improvements incorporate some suggestions from Revit Ideas. We are also beginning to plan for BIM-based electrical analysis workflows to better connect to the design process.

This will enable wider sharing of fabrication content in controlled ways that supports Revit users and enable our partner ecosystem to better meet specific fabrication workflow needs. Revit makes rebar detailing easier by delivering several features that empower engineers and detailers to create more rebar shapes and shop drawings containing more fabrication data. These help increase the modelling fidelity and the quality of the coordination with the bar bending shops.

These enable an easy transition from 2D to BIM workflows and accommodate increased rebar detailer productivity. Precast users will also experience simplified access to the precast features as they are now integrated into Revit.

Further on, we will focus on the ease of detailing of reinforcement layouts with new methods to facilitate fast design intent and clash avoidance with other objects. We are also continuing with initiatives that will help structural engineers to quickly populate their design models with steel connections based on their best-practices and regional guidelines. The structural roadmap also includes significant improvements to structural analytical modeling in Revit to enable efficient collaboration across structural physical and analytical representation of models in order to ultimately connect analysis workflows and therefore engineers to BIM.

For example, we know that everyone manages a lot of Revit content. This service is transformational because it allows cloud services and applications to work with Revit data anytime, anywhere.

We hope these enhancements make it easier to manage projects in BIM Design. We also continue our work on IFC 4 certification. Last but not least, we are adding Shared Views to the roadmap.

With only a few clicks, Shared Views allows you to share your designs with stakeholders and see their feedback. There are a variety of other discussions and work related to connecting workflows from design to fabrication and beyond. These are all platform feature requests. This is a joke right? These are virtually all features that should have been in Revit 10 years ago. Every engineering, architecture, and construction company in the world has been paying Autodesk hundreds of thousands of dollars in licensing costs for the past 20 years.

You should be able to afford hundreds of software developers to be working on this project. This roadmap clearly indicates that there are not. Revit needs to fix legends. Legends have an incredible potential for project documentation but in his present state, they are almost useless due to his limitations. Are you serious?

Who did he give up to? Can you stop cloning your ridiculous apps and establish a connection with other programs from other manufacturers? It would be great if we could fix MEP phasing. It’s a big problem in all projects where we have to work with MEP engineers, it forces the whole team to use ridiculous workarounds because Revit MEP arbitrarily does not work with phasing, so we have to use filters and worksets instead of phases.

Many people have said this in that forum, but I’ll say it here as well. The Revit Ideas forum has kind of become an unwieldly mess.

There are thousands of ideas there, and many of them duplicate, or very similar. Some are submitted by people who aren’t very clear, and others are very specific. A lot of them are fixes to little quirks in the interface, some of them are much bigger changes.

Someone or possibly a small team really needs to merge the similar ideas together. Someone also needs to filter out the ideas that are suggested, but are a function already in the program but unknown to the idea submitter. Once that is done then it will be much easier to see what ideas are really popular for implementation. Right now, ideas get lost in a sea of other ideas, and because people can use completely different words to express the same or similar idea, just a simple search or two, won’t always show the idea submitter any or all of the ideas that are similar that have already been submitted.

In short the Revit Ideas forum needs a lot of effort from a forum moderator or two or three, and then it needs a better search system, or maybe a little more structure. How about the ability to rename shared parameters or purge line styles.

So simple yet in 20 years, it still cant be done within revit. Good stuff overall. It wasn’t a specific road map item, but I’m very excited by your mention of improving wall layers. If you could make wall joins more customizable or intuitive to fix weird joins I’ll be thrilled!

And thank you so much for adding shared parameter in key schedules to the road map. Yet another year of no improvements to site and landscape tools. Agreed, very disappointing that site and landscape improvements are not even on the Roadmap.
